Zoe Booth – Flute (course tutor)

Zoe Booth is a flute player and teacher/conductor working across London and the Southeast of England.  As a teenager she studied flute with Martin Feinstein, moving to Manchester to study - under a scholarship awarded from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music - with Peter Lloyd and Richard Davis at the Royal Northern College of Music.  Whilst at college she also took lessons with Jo Boddington, Patricia Morris, Wissam Boustenay and Karen Jones.  Zoe’s playing has been highly recognised and she has received several awards including the Hilda Collens Memorial Award, a scholarship from the Music Sound Foundation and she was also a prizewinner in the All Flutes Plus Senior Flute Competition. 

Following her graduation from the RNCM and University of Manchester (joint course) Zoe moved to St Albans in Hertfordshire (UK), where she currently enjoys a varied career of performing, education work and conducting.  Her main focus is chamber music, working with The Galadriel Ensemble and Pangenesis, giving recitals and performances across the country.  She has also given many music education workshops, including work for the Live Music Now Scheme.  Zoe is a committed teacher, working with students of all ages on a one-to-one basis, and coaching and conducting local ensembles and flute choirs for students of school age.  Zoe’s many arrangements for flute choirs are published by Zoe Booth Music Publishing.

Zoe Booth began her popular series of holiday courses for adults – Flutes at the Barns – in 2003.

 

Rachael Buxton – Piano (course accompanist)1

Rachael Buxton was born in Norfolk and began playing the piano at the age of eight.  She studied at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama and went on to spend a year at the Royal College of Music, studying piano with Bernard Roberts and Simon Nicholls, and chamber music with the Chilingirian Quartet.  She gained her BMus degree at King’s College London in 1997 whilst having lessons with Patsy Toh at the Royal Academy of Music.

In July 2001 Rachael completed her postgraduate course in piano accompaniment at the Royal Academy of Music, where she studied with both Geoffrey Pratley and Aaron Shorr.  Rachael has also participated in masterclasses with Rudolf Jansen, John Streets and Geoffrey Parsons, and with Martin Isepp, Malcolm Martineau and Graham Johnson at the Britten-Pears school.

Rachael is a busy performer/accompanist, in particular she is an experienced vocal accompanist and repetiteur.  Since 2000 Rachael has worked with Zoe Booth as a member of The Galadriel Ensemble, and she has been involved with Flutes at the Barns courses as the official course accompanist since they began.

 

Jacci Cawte – Mark Country Catering
As our resident in-house cook, Jacci Cawte continues to meet the challenge of the high standard of excellent catering to expected by Flutes at the Barns staff and participants, having been associated with FATB for several years.  Her Somerset-based business - Mark Country Catering – has been trading since 1995, and prides itself on providing the taste of West Country Cooking, using quality locally produced Farm Fresh Meats, Vegetables and Free Range Eggs.
