The Galadriel Ensemble
Musicians
The unique pairing of flute and cello form the basis for The Galadriel Ensembles’ accomplished and distinctive musical sound and style, however they are always delighted to be joined by additional musicians (see below for details).
For functions and background music, dependent upon your choice of music, venue, and, of course, your budget we can provide you with up to four classical musicians (musicians may not be those shown below) drawn from a consistent core of experienced artists based in London and the South East. The flexibility of the size and type of our ensemble allows us to accommodate any situation or venue you desire for live music.
Zoë Booth - flute
Although an experienced solo recitalist and orchestral player Zoë Booth works predominantly as a successful chamber musician across London and the Southeast. As director-player of the Galadriel Ensemble she regularly performs lunchtime and evening recitals across the region and has received much positive commendation for her playing, including her runner up award for her performance in the All Flutes Plus Flute Competition 2001. Her series of chamber music engagements also includes many visits to schools with a programme of live interactive music workshops to encourage and stimulate young interests in live performance.
Zoë began studying the flute from the age of eight in her hometown of St Albans, Hertfordshire. Under the tuition of Martin Feinstein she auditioned for the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester, where she was awarded a four-year scholarship from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. She moved to Manchester to begin her undergraduate programme in 1996, learning with Richard Davis and Peter Lloyd. During her studies Zoë appeared across the country with all the RNCM orchestras and ensembles, under the baton of such conductors as Vassily Sinaisky, Martyn Brabbins, En Shao and Edward Warren. Zoë also performed at masterclasses given by the international flautists Peter Lloyd, Wissam Boustenay and Moshe Aron Epstein, and in a bassoon masterclass given by Valery Popov.
Zoë graduated with an honours degree from the University of Manchester, and with her Graduate Diploma, the GRNCM, and the acclaimed Diploma in Professional Performance, the PPRNCM, from the Royal Northern College of Music. In her final year at the RNCM she was also awarded the Hilda Collens Memorial Award and a scholarship from the Music Sound Foundation. She now works as a freelance musician and she is also a committed teacher with the Hertfordshire County Music Service.
Jessica Cox -'cello
Despite her young age Jessica Cox has already carved a niche for herself as an accomplished recitalist, soloist, orchestral and ensemble player. She has given performances of the Boccherini and Vivaldi double cello concertos and, more recently the Elgar cello concerto.
Jessica graduated in 1999 with a First Class Honours Degree (specialising in performance) from the Colchester Institute, where she studied with Martin Thomas and David Burrowes. She has recently completed a two-year postgraduate course at the Royal Academy of Music under cellist David Smith. In 1999 Jessica took up an invitation to work with Rostropovich in Berlin in a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the demolition of the Berlin Wall.
Despite her commitment to the Galadriel Ensemble Jessica is widely in demand as a chamber musician. In 1996 she formed the 4té String quartet which has performed to wide critical acclaim throughout the United Kingdom and abroad, having returned from and Italian tour in August 2001.
Jessica is also an experienced orchestral musician. Professional engagements include the European Chamber Opera, the English Pops Orchestra, as well as performing in the musical "Whistle Down the Wind" and recording the music for the hit production of "The Lady Killers" starring Tim Brooke-Taylor.

She studied at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama and went on to spend a year at the Royal College of Music studying piano with Bernard Roberts and Simon Nicholls and chamber music with the Chilingirian Quartet. She gained her BMus degree at King’s College London in 1997 whilst having piano lessons with Patsy Toh at the Royal Academy of Music.
In July 2001 Rachael completed her postgraduate course in piano accompaniment at the Academy where she studied with both Geoffrey Pratley and Aaron Shorr.
