Jazzilienne for flute and piano

Jazzilienne - a new piece by Zoë Booth - is a lively jazz waltz version of Fauré’s famous Sicilienne for flute from Pelléas et Melisande, op. 78! This is a great novelty piece - a spicier version of the the original - with energy and swing. Both the flute and piano parts feature showy sections which sound like improvisation; the central section, by contrast, is smooth and calmly played by the flute, over full and rich piano harmonies.

Over the Rainbow is from the hugely popular musical “The Wizard of Oz,” known all over the world. This arrangement is based upon Eva Cassidy’s beautiful interpretation, featuring delightful harmonic twists and a rich sound world. Although easy to initially put together, this arrangement offers a lot of scope to develop ensemble skills such as dynamics and balance. There is much for everyone to do, and each player gets their chance to shine and express themselves.

Quizas, Quizas, Quizas (P’rhaps, P’rhaps, P’rhaps) for five or more flutes/flutechoir

This popular song (also used as the theme song for the BBC series ‘Coupling’) is a real audience-pleaser! Interactive themes are shared amongst all the players, and this version also includes some easy-but-unusual effects! The overall style is that of Latin Jazz, but listen out for a brief waltz, a short improvised sounding cadenza and a dramatic quote from JS Bach too!
