On the Meadow by Lichner, arranged by Zoë Booth for four or more flutes/flute choir

£ 9.95

Heinrich Lichner (1829-1898) was a Romantic composer, born and raised in Germany. He was a talented composer, conductor, singer and keyboard player and he is remembered today for his ‘novelties’ for piano; ‘On the Meadow’ is an example from this genre.

‘On the Meadow’ is a cheerful piece in ternary form, suitable for performance with just four flutes or featuring multiple players, including piccolo, alto and/or bass flute. The opening section features chromatic melodies, shared between flutes one and two, with simple accompaniment. The central section begins simply, in a dolce style, giving all four flute parts the chance to take the tune, - the more difficult parts remain in the top voices.  It is a varied and interesting piece for rehearsals, and a real audience-pleaser.
