Gavotte by Gossec, Arranged by Zoë Booth for three or more flutes/flute choir

£ 8.95

The Dutch composer Gossec (1734-1829) was a violinist as well as a composer, and he spent most of his life working in Paris where he composed and directed opera and ballet. Notably Gossec was one of the first French composers to include clarinets in his 1761 symphony (one of the fifty he wrote) and he was also director of the band of the Garde Nationale at the Revolution, writing numerous works with a revolutionary theme.

This cheeky Gavotte has been arranged so that all players get a share of the tune, including the piccolo and often-neglected alto flute. It is a delightful piece, with melodic tunes over simple accompaniment patterns, and can be performed with one or more to a part.
