Irish Traditional Air and Jig, arranged by Zoë Booth for four or more flutes/flute choir

£ 9.95

Traditional Irish music suits the flute choir sound so perfectly, there is something here for everyone to enjoy with these two contrasting arrangements. ‘My Singing Bird’ is a slow air, and the beautiful lyrical melody line is ‘sung’ throughout the flute choir, giving all the members of the group a chance to take their chance in the spotlight. The addition of alto flute(s), bass flute(s) and/or clarinet add breadth to the sound, particularly if parts are doubled. As well as tone development, this work provides a good opportunity to focus on balance and dynamics.

‘Shandon Bells’ is a lively traditional jig, which will get everybody’s fingers moving, and toes tapping? Splashes of added piccolo here broaden the sound even further.  The jig is heard in several variations, with accompanying parts constantly changing, as – as tradition dictates – it accelerates towards its final exciting conclusion.
