Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven, arranged by Zoë Booth for five or more flutes/flute choir

£ 11.95

Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) was born in Bonn at the height of the classical period, and studied with notable teachers, before moving to Viennna to pursue his unique path. In his day Beethoven was renowned, not only for his compositions, but also for his virtuosic, fiery piano playing, and it is in his writing for his own instrument  that his originality first emerges.

This arrangement of the first movement of Beethoven’s beautiful “Moonlight” sonata remains faithful to the composer’s choice of key, and accompanying triplet movement which permeate the original work; it has been adapted for suitability to the flute, exploiting the close harmonies and promoting an integrated sense of ensemble with the main melodies shared between parts. Although this arrangement can be performed by just five players, it is enhanced by the addition of the alto and/or bass flutes.
