Serenade by Schubert arranged by Zoë Booth for four or more flutes/flute choir

£ 6.95

The Austrian composer Franz Schuberts’ (1797-1828) highly prodigious musical streak emerged early in his life and he had produced many works, including a three-act opera, by the time he was only seventeen. Although his day-job was to work as a teacher in his father’s school, Schubert continued to compose at an incredible pace and in every musical genre; his works are all permeated with his unique style for beautiful melodic writing and rich harmonic changes.

This Serenade was originally composed for piano, although Schubert’s mastery of the genre of song-writing is clearly evident; the arching and expressive melodies are here shared between all the players, over simple, yet lush, harmonies in the moving accompaniment parts.
